Robert Kolker in conversation with Ada Calhoun for HIDDEN VALLEY ROAD
We hosted Robert Kolker last month to celebrate his latest book, Hidden Valley Road, with author Ada Calhoun.
Combining narrative journalism with medical history and scientific investigation, Hidden Valley Road brings the Galvin family’s journey through mental illness to life. Robert Kolker’s is a careful and compassionate chronicler of the challenges, setbacks, and successes each member of the family faced, as well as their legacy in forming the foundations of how the scientific community understands schizophrenia today. As one of the first families studied by the National Institute of Mental Health, the Galvins have been pivotal in understanding the disease. In fact, Robert Kolker was joined by several members of the family during our Zoom event. To learn more about the book, watch their conversation here.
